As Winter Weather Approaches, Car Accidents Are On The Rise

Pennsylvania Car Accident Attorney

With our first snowfall just a few days ago, the roads are a bit slick out there. Time to be a little more careful while getting around the Erie area. There were three accidents just last Saturday, two of which halted traffic on Interstate 90 in both directions temporarily as crews worked to clear the wreckage. No serious injuries were reported in the two accidents along the interstate, yet.

A 3-vehicle car accident was reported in the afternoon, which had Route 19 down to one lane near Waterford. Initial reports indicate one of the vehicles pulled into traffic and was struck by another – then both vehicles crashed into a third vehicle. 2 people were injured in the car accident and taken to a nearby hospital.

Also on Saturday, around 7pm Saturday night another accident involved some people being injured, as 3 people were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. This accident involved two vehicles near Lake Pleasant Road and Pine Avenue. Initial reports indicate that one of the vehicles ran a stop sign.

Monday morning, around 11 am, a two car accident claimed the life of an Espyville woman, according to Meadville police. Apparently the woman pulled in front of oncoming traffic on Pennsylvania Route 285 & Townline Road. Her car was struck by a vehicle driven by a man from Conneaut Lake – he was not injured in the accident.

Finally, last night at around midnight, a rollover crash was reported at the intersection of Sassafras and West 12th Streets in Erie. West 12th was closed near Peach Street while crews cleared the debris. One of the vehicles apparently ran a red light, resulting in an SUV rolling onto it’s roof. No injuries were reported, yet.

Car Accident Injuries Can Surface Much Later

It is not uncommon for people to walk away from a car accident feeling fine, only to realize later that they are actually in pain. In times of great stress, our bodies create chemicals to help us deal with trauma. The result is that we may not feel pain until much later, after the trauma has subsided. This happens all the time, and you should wait a while after a car accident to see if any new injuries arise.
