A Meadville resident was minding his own business, when he was hit by an SUV and knocked out of his wheelchair. The SUV’s front tire blew out and caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The SUV left the roadway, and struck the man in the wheelchair who was traveling in the berm of State Route 618. The man in the wheelchair suffered serious injuries and was taken to UPMC Hamot for treatment via helicopter.

The accident happened on State Route 618, near the intersection of McClure Street (Crawford County, Sadsbury Township) very close to the Conneaut Lake Amusement Park. The injured man lives in Meadville and our thoughts are with him as he heals from his injuries. The accident happened on Sunday afternoon, and there has been no update on his condition. No charges have been filed against the driver of the SUV.
