Top 5 Questions After a Car Accident

What you do after a car accident can affect your legal rights and your rights to compensation for your injuries. Below, we have listed the top 5 questions we hear people ask our personal injury attorneys after a car accident.

1. Who pays for the damage to my car?

If the car accident was caused by the fault of the other driver, generally, the other driver’s insurance company will be responsible for paying for the damage to your car.

2. Who pays for my medical bills?

In Pennsylvania, despite fault, typically your own insurer will be responsible for paying your medical bills up to a certain limit. If you do not own a car and otherwise are not insured under someone else’s automobile insurance, then your medical bills will be paid by the auto insurer of the car you were traveling in at the time of the accident. Other scenarios arise including pedestrian accidents. Please call The Travis Law Firm for answers to all your questions.

3. What if I am hurt, but cannot afford to pay for medical treatment?

If you were hurt as a result of the car accident, it is very important for you to go to the emergency room or your family doctor immediately. This provides for documentation of your injuries and it prevents the insurance company from saying that you were not hurt. If necessary, we can recommend doctors to you who will agree to see and treat you and wait to get paid after your case is settled.

4. What if the other driver does not have insurance?

If you have insurance, but the other driver does not, then we can proceed with your claim against your insurance company. This is called uninsured motorist coverage. Your insurance company will then attempt to collect their money back from the other driver. Remember, your insurance company, like the other driver’s insurance company, will want to pay you as little as possible.

5. What if I cannot afford to pay for attorney fees?

Don’t worry. Our fee is a percentage of the settlement that you eventually receive. There will be NO money taken out of your pocket and no retainer fees. WE GET PAID ONLY IF YOU GET PAID.

If you cannot come to our offices, we will come to you in your home, in the hospital, or any other place you would prefer to meet. We are dedicated to provide you the personal attention you deserve because you are entitled to justice.
