Driver in Erie Car Accident Faces DUI Charges

There was a car accident in Fairview Friday Night (December 26th) near Van Camp Road along Avonia which involved an SUV, a Buick Rendezvous. Girard police report that the SUV was traveling Northbound on Route 98 when the vehicle left the roadway. The SUV went up an embankment, struck a utility pole and came to rest upside down in a nearby ditch.

Two people were transported to the UPMC Hamot hospital. One of the victims was flown via helicopter, after rescue crews were able to extract him from the wreck. The other person was taken via ambulance, and is suspected of DUI.
